One of my major projects this semester was to make a short stop-motion animation and I really wanted to do something focusing on clothing, but we weren't allowed to use photography as our main medium. So, I decided to do a mixed media animation with photography as a base for several handmade elements. I started by taking pictures of myself and my friends in spring clothing pieces, but ended up dropping a lot of the things I wanted to do related to fashion and just sort of played with the flower motif and spring imagery. I hope you enjoy the final product ^__^

happy birthday
I'm finally 18! Even after months of planning and list-making, my birthday seemed to come and go so soon. But, I'm happy to be another year closer to ~freedom~ and to actually get to have my gifts rather than staring at them in their wrapped boxes every hour. For my birthday I had a small party in Audubon Park with my best friends, made flower crowns, and listened to beach house. We also had macarons and little cakes from Sucré. I wore the Parma Metallic Lace Cropped Tee and Violetta Metallic Lace Skater Skirt by Lashes of London. It was the perfect birthday outfit and really set the theme for the day. The purple on it was also almost an exact match to the nail polish I had on, Go Ginza by Essie. I love that I can create a really girly, frilly outfit when I pair both pieces together or wear them separately for a completely different, more casual look. Read through for more pictures of my outfit (in color) and to see the rest of the pictures from my birthday!

Paris
One of my assignments for my Time/Narrative class was to cut a series of silhouettes that act as visuals for a quote from a favorite book while exploring text and image combinations. I chose a quote from Sylvia Plath's The Bell Jar and created two sets of images for the quote, but I'm only going to post one. If you can't tell, the source image for this picture is from a series of photographs Terry Richardson took of Lindsey Wixson and her boyfriend. Click through to see the rest!

18
I'll finally be turning 18 this April, and I've been working on a birthday list since the beginning of January. I always get excited about my birthday way too soon... But so far, my plans include macarons, gelato, and gold tissue paper. Since my birthday is in Spring, I'm using it as an opportunity to build my summer wardrobe. I'm currently really into bright pastels, perspex, gold, and floral lace. Pastels and florals obviously aren't anything new, but after a rebellious summer of all black last year, I'm excited to wear a lot of color.
Here are the items on my list:
1. Two Hearts Sunglasses from Urban Outfitters
2. Nude Turtleneck Crop Top from American Apparel
3. Lace Mid-Length Skirt from American Apparel
4. Daisy Satchel from Nasty Gal
5. Mint Shoes with Clear Heel from Asos
6. Essie Nail Polish in Good as Gold and Penny Talk
7. Clear Cat Eye Sunglasses from Urban Outfitters
8. Topshop socks
9. Chartreuse Dress from Nasty Gal
10. Floral Lucite Oxfords from Messeca
11. Tropical Floral Earrings from Urban Outfitters

Mardi Gras
Since I live in New Orleans I thought I would share a few of the pictures I took over the week from Mardi Gras on my blog. The past few weeks here have been very eventful with the Superbowl and Mardi Gras back to back, but I'm really more excited about having a full week off for the holiday. Anyway, enjoy the shiny, sparkly images after the cut.

OOTD: pink pants
A few days ago my friends and I decided to go out and enjoy the sunshine (before the impending thunderstorm the weather predicted for Mardi Gras). We spent lots of time people watching and taking silly pictures around our college campus. While we were there, we decided to do a series of pictures for the American Apparel Super Stylist Contest on Chictopia. The rules of the contest state that each entry has to have at least two American Apparel items, and here I am wearing the Silky Collar Polka Dot Blouse and the Riding Pants in Pink Cheeks. I am also wearing an ASOS velvet bow tie, Urban Outfitters sunglasses, and Aldo brogues.
You can also view this look on lookbook and chictopia.

style inspiration: suzy bishop
I have been drawing lots of style (and lifestyle) inspiration from Suzy Bishop of Wes Anderson's latest film Moonrise Kingdom. She has quickly become one of my favorite movie characters of all time. I'm working on acquiring lots of pink dresses, a pair of saddle shoes, and a basketweave purse, but I've already gotten the sweetest little bug earrings ^__^
